Abstract
The effect of ascorbic acid, retinol, and their mixture on the surviva l of human cells treated by mutagens was studied. The results provide evidence about the specific protective activity of each vitamin with r espect to specific mutagenic effect. Information about specificity of ''antimutagen-mutagen'' effect accounting for mutagen cytotoxic proper ties can be readily obtained with the use of the method of vital cell staining with Tripane Blue.
