Ky. Li et al., FIELD-TEST AND MATHEMATICAL-MODELING OF BIOREMEDIATION OF AN OIL-CONTAMINATED SOIL .2. MATHEMATICAL-MODELING, Waste management, 14(7), 1994, pp. 571-579
A mathematical model was developed to describe the oxygen transfer fro
m the air, the oil transfer from the soil, and the bio-reaction in the
aqueous phase. Important parameters used in this model were obtained
independently either in the laboratory or from the literature. The oil
transfer rate constant, K(i)a, was found to be a function of time dur
ing the remediation. The oil transfer rate controlling in this bioreme
diation process is confirmed again by the parameters obtained from sim
ulation results for each plot. An example of calculation was used to i
llustrate the oil transfer controlling step in the bioremediation of o
il contaminated soil.
