Nurse practitioners are in a unique position to make a significant imp
act on the provision of primary health care in the presence of health
care reform. To insure proper positioning in a managed health care sys
tem, NPs must take action at the national, state, and local levels. Pr
oactive suggestions for NPs in the work setting, in the community, and
