PULVERIZED FUEL ASH PRODUCTS SOLVE THE SEWAGE-SLUDGE PROBLEMS OF THE WASTE-WATER INDUSTRY

Sewage sludge recycling has become one of the predominant problems of the water industry. Not all types of Sewage sludges are able to be rec ycled to farm land or into composting processes. Pulverised fuel ash i s used as a major ingredient in a product called Rhenipal which is use d to stabilise sewage sludge for recycling into a material for land re clamation, as a soil conditioner, as cover material for landfill and a s a landfill engineering material. This article deals with the results achieved when applying Rhenipal in a post-stabilisation process to pr epare landfill engineering material. The process is currently develope d further and can be operated in a pre-stabilisation mode, which will further improve the economical results shown for the post-stabilisatio n method in this paper.
