Pecularities of kinetics of low-temperature radiation postpolymerizati
on of 1,3-bis(dimethylamino)isopropyl methacrylate were studied. Depen
ding on conditions of the process, polymerization can proceed through
different modes: steady-state and vibrational or as a thermal explosio
n. The values of MBAR(w), second virial coefficients A2, mean-square r
adius of gyration of a polymer coil [R2]1/2, and intrinsic viscosity w
ere determined for the samples obtained with various modes of polymeri
zation. As the dose of gamma-radiation is increased molecular mass dec
reases, whereas when the reaction is carried out under nonsteady-state
conditions molecular mass distribution curve broadens to high molecul
ar masses. From the molecular characteristics of the polymer a number
of conformational parameters, such as specific unperturbed dimension K
, parameter ([h0(2)]/M)1/2 characteristic of hindrance of internal rot
ation, and the Kuhn segment A were calculated.
