J. Aguilar et A. Valencia, DEVELOPMENT AND VALIDATION OF A BIDIMENSI ONAL PERFECTIONISM SCALE, Revista mexicana de psicologia, 11(2), 1994, pp. 103-111
The present paper aimed to develop and validate a bidimentional scale
of perfectionism. Three studies were conducted with four samples of co
llege students, most of them females. In the first study factor analys
is was used to verify the two dimensions of the scale, and to obtain e
vidence of its validity. In an anagram solving task, perfectionists' p
redicted scores were significantly higher than those of non perfection
ists. Moreover perfectionism scores positively correlated with plannin
g and competitiveness scales. In the second the internal consistency o
f the engagement subscale was increased with some additional items and
the scale factorial structure was tested. In the third, relations bet
ween the scale and evaluative anxiety, procrastination and fear to fai
lure scales were found.
