CALIBRATION OF THE SPACE-BORNE MICROWAVE MEASUREMENTS USING THE ONBOARD STANDARDS AND THE REFERENCE AREAS OF THE SEA-SURFACE

The paper discusses the possibilities to improve the accuracy of the c alibration of the spaceborne microwave radiometers by using the onboar d standards and the reference areas of the ocean with the account of t he accuracy of the determination of the equivalent brightness temperat ures of the standards and the reference areas. Estimations of the accu racy of the retrieval of the sea surface temperature SST and the total water vapor content in the atmosphere are also made with the account of the typical conditions of the remote sensing of the sea surface.
