Acanthamoeba keratitis is a rare pathology which is currently increasi
ng frequency in France. Two new cases are reported in young patients w
earing soft hydrophile contact lenses. One patient apparently followed
cleansing instructions, but the other did not. The essential parasito
logical diagnosis was confirmed rapidly after corneal sampling, but ha
d been highly suspected from the clinical symptomatology. Treatment co
mbining propamidine and eye-drop antibiotics led to recovery in both c
ases. Anatomical damage was however observed in one case and an penetr
ation graft was necessary.
