Resolute changes seem necessary so that psychoanalysis can develop fur
ther as a vivid science in the form of applied psychoanalysis in diffe
rent clinical sectors and can further develop the role of fundamental
treatment of psychogenic diseases. The necessary changes should includ
e the relationship of psychoanalysis and psychoanalysts with the insti
tutions in which psychoanalysis is embedded, to neighboring sciences,
and to empirical research. Consequences have to do with training in ps
ychoanalysis and teaching and research in psychoanalytic institutes.
