Abstract
Chicken anaemia virus (CAV) was isolated for the first time in Chile f rom thymus samples obtained from SPF chickens experimentally infected with CAV serologically positive tissues. Isolation was conducted in MD CC-MSB1 cell cultures. Virus replication was evidenced by both the ind uction of a cytopathologic effect characterized by enlarged swollen ce lls and by the identification of the virus in the cells through immuno fluorescence tests employing a specific reference monoclonal antibody.
