Abstract
The problem of a simply-supported plate subject to loads distributed o ver an arbitrarily shaped area is studied in this article. The solutio ns for the deflection and moment resultants are obtained by the Navier method, expressed in terms of load coefficients. For a load distribut ed over an arbitrarily shape area, the load coefficients can be readil y determined by a boundary line integral technique. The validity and a ccuracy of the boundary integral method has been verified through a fe w examples. Copyright (C) 1996 Elsevier Science Ltd.
