Abstract
The authors report a case of spasmodic cough in a farmer's wife in con tact with dried tobacco leaves. Prick tests using an extract of dried Paraguay Bell leaf were positive. A realistic challenge test using the same tobacco not contaminated by moulds caused a 23 % fall in FEV1. T his is the first reported case of spasmodic cough secondary to IgE-dep endent sensitization to tobacco leaf in a farmer's wife.
