Jm. Wendling et al., SPASMODIC COUGH DUE TO TOBACCO LEAF SENSI TIZATION IN A FARMERS WIFE - ONE CASE, Revue francaise d'allergologie et d'immunologie clinique, 34(6), 1994, pp. 498-500
The authors report a case of spasmodic cough in a farmer's wife in con
tact with dried tobacco leaves. Prick tests using an extract of dried
Paraguay Bell leaf were positive. A realistic challenge test using the
same tobacco not contaminated by moulds caused a 23 % fall in FEV1. T
his is the first reported case of spasmodic cough secondary to IgE-dep
endent sensitization to tobacco leaf in a farmer's wife.
