W. Bronger et al., CS6RE6S12, THE FIRST THIORHENATE WITH A 2 -DIMENSIONAL COUPLING OF [RE6S8] UNITS, Journal of alloys and compounds, 216(1), 1994, pp. 25-28
The ternary sulphide Cs6Re6S12 was prepared by combination of caesium
carbonate with rhenium in a sulphur-charged argon stream at 800 degree
s C. X-Ray investigations of single crystals revealed a two-dimensiona
l layered structure which is novel in the field of ternary rhenium cha
lcogenides. The compound contains [Re6S8] units linked by monosulphide
bridges in accordance with the formula {[Re6S8]S2S4/2}(6-). An analog
ous linkage of [M(6)X(8)]-type units is known in MoCl2.
