Abstract
The effect of inoculating the rhizosphere of sterile rape and non-ster ile barley, timothy, orchard grass, and meadow fescue with bacteria of the genus Pseudomonas on the processes of nitrogen fixation, denitrif ication, and heterotrophic nitrification was investigated. The 140 pse udomonade strains tested differed strikingly in the effects produced. The possibility to select strains that can preferentially stimulate on e of the nitrogen cycle processes in the rhizosphere was shown.
