Abstract
Styrene-maleic anhydride (SMA) surface sizes affect a wide variety of paper end-use properties. This paper examines the effects of various S MA parameters (styrene-to-maleic anhydride ratio, molecular weight, an d type of salt) on sizing response, ink-jet printability, offset runna bility, coefficient of friction, and Gurley densometer.
