Fs. Eschanova et al., EFFECTS OF ANTIOXIDANT THERAPY ON PERFUSI ON AND CONTRACTILITY OF LEFT-VENTRICULAR MYOCARDIUM IN PATIENTS WITH ALCOHOLIC INJURY OF THE HEART, Kardiologia, 34(1-2), 1994, pp. 39-42
Antioxidant Dibunol (20 mg/kg daily) was given for 20 days to 30 patie
nts with alcoholic injury of the heart. Ten patients served as control
s and received placebo for 20 days. Myocardial scintigraphy with thall
ium 201 and radionuclide equilibrium ventriculography at rest and duri
ng stress test were performed before and after Dibunol or placebo. Rel
ative to baseline values Dibunol treated patients had increased left v
entricular ejection fraction, maximal filling and ejection velocities,
decreased enddiastolic and endsystolic volumes, increased myocardial
TI 201 uptake and improved TI 201 washout. Therapy with Dibunol result
ed in improvement of left ventricular perfusion and function.
