1ST EXPERIENCE OF LOVASTATIN USE FOR CORR ECTION OF LOW-DENSITY CHOLESTEROL LEVELS IN PATIENTS AFTER RECONSTRUCTIVE SURGERY ON MAGISTRAL ARTERIES

Lovastatin was used in the treatment of 14 patients with atherosclerot ic stenoses of peripheral and brachlocephalic arteries. Results of tre atment showed efficacy of lovastatin especially for reduction of low d ensity lipoprotein cholesterol level. When lovastatin was used for mor e than 6 months significant decreases in levels of total cholesterol, low density lipoprotein cholesterol and very low density lipoprotein c holesterol achieved at the beginning of therapy were sustained through out the treatment period.
