Abstract
A modified version of the model proposed by Andersen was used to predi cted perceived service need, service awareness, and service utilizatio n among elderly respondents. Variables in the model explained a much l arger percentage of the variance of service utilization than either pe rceived service need or service awareness. Most of the variance of ser vice utilization was explained by greater need, greater service awaren ess, and three predisposing variables (specifically being a woman, Afr ican-American, and/or unmarried).
