Abstract
The distribution of exophile tick Ixodes ricinus (Acarina : Ixodidae) was studied all over Brittany and related geologic surrounding region (''Massif Armoricain''), West part of France, in relation to mapped ve getal units. Eighty sites were investigated. I. ricinus was found in 7 7, 5 % of the studied sites whatever the type of vegetation be. The on ly difference concerns the oceanic shore from St-Male to Lorient where the positive rate was 35 % : it seems that the maritime environment h as an inhibitory effect for this species.
