The products' composition and heat evolution during the synthesis of d
icyanoacetylene by dehydration of acetylenedicarboxamide with phosphor
ic anhydride in a self-propagating thermal wave were determined. The t
hermodynamic calculations based on these experimental data enabled pro
posing the reactions occurring in the thermal wave and the leading sta
ge of the wave process.
