Abstract
A new diterpene designated calliphyllin, betulinic acid, 5,4'-dihydrox y-3;7,3'-trimethoxyflavone, 5,4'-dihydroxy-3,7,3'-dimethoxyflavone, 5, 4'-dihydroxy-3,7-dimethoxyflavone and beta-sitosterol have been isolat ed from the leaves of Callicarpa macrophylla Vahl. (Verbenaceae). Call iphyllin has been shown to possess 14 alpha-hydroxy-isopimaric acid (1 ) structure on the basis of nmr and mass spectral and chemical evidenc e.
