A REVIEW OF DISSOCIATION AND DISSOCIATIVE DISORDERS

There has been an explosion of activity concerning dissociation and di ssociative disorders overseas, but little interest is apparent in Aust ralian psychiatric publications. This article aims to critically exami ne the current conceptualisation of dissociation and its proposed rele vance to the understanding of psychopathology, in order to create disc ussion about these issues in Australian psychiatry. Multiple personali ty disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder are critically examined .
