Abstract
In order to study space charge effects on the transverse coherent moti on of a coasting beam, we perform computer simulations of transverse s ingle-particle and coherent oscillations with high space charge derive d from Fourier spectra of the time evolution of the electric potential s. Results with solenoidal and periodic focusing with initial K-V and waterbag distributions are compared with those from the envelope equat ion.
