We report on integrated simulations of hohlraum targets based on the n
ew code MULTI2D for two-dimensional radiation hydrodynamics. Targets f
or heavy ion beam fusion with two-sided irradiation are discussed; l=4
asymmetry is controlled by low-albedo rings in the hohlraum wall. Tar
gets designed for laser-driven shock wave experiments are also present
ed. MULTI2D in its present version is still restricted to the use of s
implified (power-law-type) equations of state and opacities, so the re
sults are of semi-quantitative nature. We focus on hohlraum dynamics a
nd aspects of radiation field symmetrization.
