Js. Duffield et al., CRITICAL FLOW IN A CHEMICALLY REACTING 2-PHASE MULTICOMPONENT MIXTURE, International journal of multiphase flow, 20(6), 1994, pp. 993-1008
A model that describes the critical flow of chemically reacting, two-p
hase, multicomponent mixtures in channels of constant cross section is
discussed. As a consequence of an assumed interphase thermal and mech
anical equilibrium the applicability of the model is restricted to sit
uations where one phase is intimately mixed with the other, such that
choking is determined by the sound speed in the homogeneous mixture. I
t is shown that under certain conditions the highly non-linear tempera
ture dependency of the reaction rate promotes the possibility of a mul
tiplicity of steady state solutions to the problem.
