During the 1993 campaign two new pulp presses were installed in two di
fferent factories of the H.S.I. Each press was to prove a capacity of
pulp pressing corresponding to 2500 t of beet per day and to give pres
sed pulp of 25% dry substance content. While the test runs in the firs
t factory were successful this was not the case in the other factory.
The technological guarantee was given under special assumptions regard
ing the following parameters: Marc of the beets, dry substance content
of the wet pulp, pH value of press water, maximum extraction temperat
ure, temperature of the wet pulp, temperature after the cossette mixer
, extraction water hardness, nominal capacity of the extraction plant
and use of biocides. The differences of the above parameters in each f
actory compared also to the conditions specified by the other bidders
are discussed and some conclusions are drawn for their optimization.
