The acute epidural hematoma is a real surgical emergency with a good o utcome if the operation is performed in reasonnable delays. In 1994, t oo many young patients eventually died or were left with major disabil ities, because of an inacceptable and almost always avoidable lost of time. We do emphasize some rules which have to be followed to avoid ca tastrophic events.
