Hg. Biewendt et W. Buchheim, REPORT ON SUPPLEMENTARY TYPE TESTING OF P LATE HEAT-EXCHANGERS FOR THE MILK HEATERS H-17 DUO-SAFETY AND N-35 DUO-SAFETY, Kieler Milchwirtschaftliche Forschungsberichte, 46(4), 1994, pp. 329-342
According to the Milk Ordinance of June 23, 1989 milk heaters must als
o be equipped with an appropriate safety device to avoid mixing of the
heated milk with insufficiently heated milk. APV-Baker (Kolding, DK),
has, therefore, developed twin plate heat exchangers (Duo-Safety). In
case of a rupture of the plate the milk flows outside via a pressurel
ess interspace, so that further safety precautions will not be necessa
ry. The suitability of these novel with twin plates for the purpose ai
med at, their stability and their thermic properties have been tested.
Positive test results were obtained, so that we raise no objection to
using the Duo-Safety plates in milk heaters, in particular as regards
their safety.
