Abstract
In Stenogastrinae wasps male flight activity is centred on a set of la ndmarks, where males patrol and defend aerial territories from intrude rs, without perching or marking the substrate. Males perform a typical stripes-display in front of their rivals. In a group of captive Paris hnogaster mellyi males, we analyzed the function of this behaviour by means of an experimental enlargement of the stripes-display.
