Male mating activity of Polistes semenowi, observed in a mountain envi
ronment, falls into a series of categories common to P. biglumis bimac
ulatus, a paper wasp living at high altitude: daily aggregations and t
erritorial behaviour at peculiar non-resource sites, i.e. sunlit stone
s and slabs in a meadow; a lek-like spatial pattern of territories, ch
aracterized by a clear preference for certain sites; sexual behaviour
towards conspecific females on habitual perches.
