HIMAC, the Heavy Ion Medical Accelerator in Chiba, is the first heavy
ion accelerator dedicated to medical applications. The two 800 MeV/u s
ynchrotron rings are controlled by a computer system. Testing in part
has been started and preliminary results are successful. The testing o
f the whole control system is scheduled to be completed by the end of
October 1993.
