Abstract
A two-level distributed computer system has been chosen for the contro l system for the Heavy Ion Storage Ring K4-K10 [1]. The lower level is being developed in accordance with industrial system standards and it is linked to the upper level by means of the multidrop communication field bus MIL-1553B [3]. MIL-1553B bus controllers (BC) are located in the upper level of the control system, in the crates built to the IEE E1296 (Multibus II) standard.
