In line with our group's intention of producing software using, where
possible, Object-Oriented methodologies and techniques in the developm
ent of RF control systems, we have undertaken three projects to enhanc
e the EPICS software environment. Two of the projects involve interfac
es to EPICs Channel Access from Object-Oriented languages. The third i
s an enhancement to the EPICS State Notation Language to better suppor
t the Shlaer-Mellor Object-Oriented Analysis and Design Methodology. T
his paper discusses the motivation, approaches, results and future dir
ections of these three projects.
