Abstract
The structure determination of the title compound, data, confirms that the absolute configuration is S at the two asymmetric centres; it fac ilitated the establishment C18H16O3S, based on X-ray single crystal di ffraction of the absolute configuration of the chiral C centre of the parent molecule, after cleaveage of the sulfoxide group, which had bee n postulated but not confirmed in the literature until now.
