Vb. Pogrebov et al., ANALYSIS OF THE MACROZOOBENTHOS DISTRIBUT ION ON THE NOVAYA-ZEMLYA SHELF BARENTS SEA BY METHOD OF SELF-ORGANIZING MODELING BASED ON THE RESULTS OF THE UNDERWATER PHOTOGRAPHY, Okeanologia, 34(6), 1994, pp. 915-923
On the base of the underwater photographies and Group Method of Data H
andling Algorythm the distribution of common species and trophic group
s of zoobenthos on Novaya Zemlya shelf of the Barents Sea has been inv
estigated. The remoteness of sampling localities from the coast, depth
, lithological composition of sediments, geomorphological characterist
ics of samples, sedimentation regime, maintenance of desintegrated roc
k material on bottom, concentration of organic carbon in sediments are
tested as explanatory variables. The optimum models ensuring the mean
accuracy of prognosis within 15% of the real ones are obtained on the
1 - 5 rows of selection. Advantages, limitations and perspectives of
self-organizing modelling and use of underwater photography in hydrobi
ological practice are discussed.
