Copper(II) compounds: CuCl2[C5H5NCH2COO].3H(2)O, CuCl2[C5H5N(CH2)(n)CO
O].2H(2)O (n=2, 3), and CuCl2[C5H5N(CH2)(n)COO](2) (n=1-3) were prepar
ed. Then they were characterized by means of magnetic susceptibility a
nd IR spectroscopy. The equilibria between mono- and dinuclear species
in their aqueous solutions were studied using magnetic susceptibility
measurements. The tendency for adopting dinuclear species in water in
creased in the order: acetate<3-pyridiniopropionate<4-pyridiniobutyrat
