Abstract
Concentrations of cortisol, insulin, growth hormone, insulin-like grow th factor-I, triiodothyronine and thyroxine were determined before and during parturition in sows immunized against a somatostatin-BSA conju gate (n = 7) or against BSA only (n = 6). Immunization against somatos tatin decreased insulin-like growth factor-I concentrations during par turition (P less than or equal to 0.05). For all animals, cortisol, th yroxine and triiodothyronine concentrations were greater (P less than or equal to 0.01) during than before parturition.
