Four wavelengths (266, 355, 428, and 532 nm) generated from a prototyp
e laser fluorosensor system were used to investigate the fluorescence
spectral and temporal characteristics of crude and refined Kuwaiti oil
s in the laboratory. Temporal and spectral measurements were gathered
for fresh and naturally weathered oil samples. Furthermore, a principa
l-components algorithm was developed for the purpose of identifying an
d classifying unknown oils.
