WHAT IS SPHAERIA-ACUTA HOFFM, FR

Sphaeria acuta Hoffm. has been used as basionym for anamorph and teleo morph of different species of Leptosphaeria. A plausible lectotype is chosen according to the sanctioning protologue, viz. Sclerom. suec. Fa sc. 4, No. 118 in UPS. Therefore this epithet is tied to the Phoma ana morph of Leptosphaeria doliolum (Pers. : Fr.) Ces. & de Not. subsp. do liolum, identical with Phoma hoehnelii var. urticae Boerema & van Kest . apud Boerema (1976). The teleomorph name Pleospora acuta must be reg arded as newly introduced by Fuckel (lectotype: Fungi then. No. 900 in G) and transferred to Leptosphaeria by Karsten.
