Much of the work on mood congruent memory is not very consistent, and
the findings, most likely, reveal only a fraction of the potentially l
arger emotional/cognitive interaction. After exploring theoretical con
cerns related to the work on mood congruent memory, two recommendation
s are made. The first pertains to employing a constructivist approach
to mind, in contrast to currently used network models. The second reco
mmendation pertains to supplementing experimental approaches with more
wholistic research in naturalistic contexts. Finally, some ideas for
investigation based on current findings are considered and these are u
sed to suggest potential directions for research.
