Abstract
The people's Republic of China is under a state of cultural, education al, social political, especially economic transition which has encoura ged the consideration of adopting counseling services into its urban c enters. There are growing indications that counseling both as a profes sional practice and as theoretical research is emerging in China as a new way for Chinese to approach individual vocational problems and to improve student placement services.
