The secretive expression vector has been constructed using the promote
r and signal sequence of yeast MF-alpha 1 factor, and the Bacillus lic
heniformis alpha-amylase gene without promoter and signal sequence has
been inserted into the downstream of the signal sequence on the vecto
r. After the readjustment of the reading frame, the amylase gene was e
xpressed in Saccharomyces cerevisiae and the product was secreted from
it. The properties of enzymes secreted from yeast and B. subtilis are
compared, and the mechanism of the gene expression and product secret
ion are discussed.
