Lc. Popovic et al., CONTRIBUTION OF GRAVITATIONAL REDSHIFT TO SPECTRAL-LINE PROFILES OF SEYFERT-GALAXIES AND QUASARS, Astronomy and astrophysics, 293(2), 1995, pp. 309-314
In the present work we analyse the influence of gravitational field on
the profile of spectral lines. For kinematically very composite regio
ns near nuclei of Seyfert galaxies and quasars both the optically thin
and optically thick cases have been considered. We suppose that the l
ine profile without gravitational field influence (undisturbed profile
) is a Voigt one. Irrespective of any other (mostly Doppler) influence
the gravitational one yields shifted and asymmetric, and under the as
sumption of optically thin region, broadened spectral lines. The blue
wing of the deformed spectral line is lower, while the red one is high
er than in the undisturbed line profile. In the case of optically thin
region we have discussed the shape of spectral lines for different wa
velength ranges.
