Abstract
A theoretical explanation of the temperature hysteresis of ultrasonic longitudinal wave velocity in the high-T(c) compound Bi2Sr2Ca1Cu2O8 ha s been advanced. The explanation is obtained taking into account the c ubic interaction term connecting the square displacement of the bistab le oxygen sublattice with the deformation of the host lattice.
