Peculiarities of chemical composition, Balmer jump, and depression at
lambda 5200 observed in the spectra of peculiar stars are considered a
s a function of magnetic field. The peculiarities are shown to growth
with increasing surface magnetic field up to 2 - 4 kG, the peculiariti
es remaining nearly constant for stronger magnetic fields. The macrotu
rbulence usually preventing the diffusion of chemical elements and res
ponsible for chemical peculiarities due to radiation pressure and surf
ace gravity is assumed to be completely suppressed at such strong magn
etic fields.
