Abstract
Serrated flow behaviour of 2.25Cr-1 Mo ferritic steel base metal, weld ments and simulated heat-affected zone (HAZ) structures, viz. coarse-g rained bainite, fine-grained bainite and intercritical structure, have been studied. All the structures except coarse-grained bainite showed serrated flow in the intermediate temperature range. Critical strains for the onset of serration in the different structures were rationali zed in terms of interparticle spacing as determined from work-hardenin g analysis of Estrin and Mecking. Effects of serrated flow on mechanic al properties for different structures have been discussed.
