The reaction of 1-methyl-2,3,4,5-tetraphenyl-1-silacyclopentadiene (1)
with potassium hydride in THF-d(8) gives ihydrido-2,3,4,5-tetraphenyl
-1-silacyclopentadiene silicate, [Ph(4)C(4)SiMeH(2)-].[K+] (3), potass
io-2,3,4,5-tetraphenyl-1-silacyclo-2-pentene (4), and potassio-2,3,4,5
-tetraphenyl-1-silacyclo-3-pentene (5). These species are characterize
d by H-1, C-13, and Si-29 NMR. Treatment of the solution of anions wit
h dimethylchlorosilane gives the C-substituted product, ylsilyl)-2,3,4
,5-tetraphenyl-1-silacyclo-3-pentene (2).
