The development of the recrystallization texture of the alloy Al-1.8 w
t% Cu was investigated by analysis of orientation distribution functio
ns (ODF) determined by X-ray diffraction, supported by metallography a
nd EBSD local texture analysis. In dependence on the degree of deforma
tion, the annealing temperature and, in particular, on the precipitati
on state a large variety of recrystallization textures was found which
could be subdivided into four characteristic types. The differences b
etween these recrystallization texture types could be attributed to di
fferences in the nucleation and growth behaviour. From the present res
ults general conclusions about the various recrystallization mechanism
s occurring in aluminium alloys can be drawn.
