Abstract
eta(3)-Phosphinoketene complexes of tungsten Cp(CO)ClW[eta(3)-P(Ph(2)) -C(R)=C=O] (R=Me, Ph) react with hydrogen chloride under protonation o f the ketene oxygen atom converting the ketene into a new cyclobutenol system. The products have been characterized by H-1, C-13, P-31 NMR. IR and mass spectra. iphenyl-3-methyl-1-wolframa-2-phospha-3-buten-4-o l crystallized in the monoclinic space group P2(1)/n with a = 9.046(2) , b = 7.369(1), c = 30.266(2)Angstrom, beta = 96.63(3)degrees and Z = 4.
