Abstract
The results obtained from two different laboratory systems for measuri ng the degradation and sorption of alachlor in soil are compared. The methods were carried out in different laboratories using the same soil . Alachlor degradation as influenced by formulation and soil moisture were measured in closed and open systems. Batch experiments with and w ithout radiolabelled alachlor were used to measure the sorption consta nt. It was found that differences in degradation rate between the syst ems were low for both formulations in the the different methods. Howev er sorption data were slightly more variable but not statistically dif ferent. The results in the different experimental conditions evidence the accuracy of the methods used for the herbicide investigated.
